        Install your filters

  • Preperation

    Foreground colour = #792616 or another dark colour of your choice, background colour = #f9f5f1 or another light colour of your choice
    Change the Foreground colour into gradient: see settings shown below:

    We start the lesson with the palette of materials arranged as  follows:

    If you use a different picture, please resize it according to these dimensions:



    Feel free to change the opacity and/or blend mode of the layers if you prefer to work with different colours



    The lesson

  1. File – New – New image:
  2. Activate the flood fill tool and flood fill your image with the gradient
  3. Effects- plug-in effects Factory Gallery V - Incantations with settings shown below:
  4. Layers - new raster layer
  5. Replace the gradient with the solid dark colour:

  6. Flood fill your new layer with the dark colour
  7. Layers – load/save mask – load mask from disk –and select my mask:
  8. Layers - merge – merge group
  9. Effects - plug in effect: Alien Skin Eye candy 5: Impact - perspective shadow choose the preset @nn_BBurnout_EC5_PS_1
  10. Layers - duplicate
  11. Image - flip
  12. In your layer palette:  change blend mode into screen
  13. Activate your selection tool – rectangle with these settings:

    Select this part:

    Press the DELETE button on your keyboard
  14. Selections - deselect
  15. Activate the misted tube @nn_060408_building_tdstudio.pspimage, Edit - Copy
  16. Activate your tag,
    Edit - paste as a new layer
  17. Effects – Image effects – offset with following settings:
  18. Activate the layer palette and change the opacity of the layer into Overlay
  19. Activate the misted text @nn_060408_tekst_tdstudio.pspimage,
    Edit - Copy
  20. Activate your tag,
    Edit - paste as a new layer
  21. Activate the Image: image_BeautifulBurnout.jpg,
    Edit - Copy
  22. Activate your tag,
    Edit - paste as a new layer
  23. Effects - plug in effect Alien Skin eye Candy 5: Impact - Gradient Glow – choose the preset @nn_BeautifulBurnout_tdstudio_GG.f1s
  24. Effects - texture effects – fur with settings shown below:


    This is what we have now:
  25. Effects -  edge effects - enhance edges
  26. Activate the layer palette, decrease the opacity to 70 % (if you use different colours, see for yourself what you like best. If your colour is very dark, then try for example opacity 50 % and blend mode Soft light. It gives a nice effect)

  27. Window – duplicate (shift + D) minimizes this copy and continue with the original.
    We will use the copy ad the end of this lesson to make a background for the script)
  28. Repeat, Edit – paste as a new layer (the Image is still in your pc’s memory)
  29. Effects - plug in effect Alien Skin Eye candy 5: Impact - perspective shadow choose my preset @nn_BBurnout_EC5_PS_1
  30. Layers - new raster layer
  31. Activate the Picture tube tool and select the tube CHAIN (standard settings)
  32. Place the chain as follows (correct with the Move Tool if necessary):
  33. Layers - duplicate
  34. Image - flip
  35. Layers - merge – merge down (both chain layers are merged)
  36. Effects - plug in effect Alien Skin Eye candy 5: Impact - perspective shadow choose Drop shadow LOW
  37. Layers - merge - merge ALL layers
  38. Window – duplicate
  39. Proceed with the original
  40. Effects - plug in effect Richard Rosenman - Solid border with settings shown below:
    Colour : white
  41. Edit - Copy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  42. Activate the copy you just made:
  43. Image -Resize:
  44. Effects – Image effects – seamless tiling with settings shown below:
  45. Effects - plug in effect Unlimited 2.0 - Special effects 1 - Shiver:
  46. Effects – edge effects - enhance edges
  47. Edit - paste as a new layer
  48. Effects - plug in effects Alien Skin eye Candy 5: Impact - Gradient Glow – choose preset @nn_BeautifulBurnout_tdstudio_GG.f1s


  49. Repeat Edit – paste as a new layer
  50. Effects - plug in effects Alien Skin Eye candy 5: Impact - perspective shadow choose preset @nn_BBurnout_EC5_PS_1
  51. Layers - new raster layer
  52. Activate the Picture Tube Tool and place the tube chain ad random
  53. Image – free rotate:
  54. With the Move tool, move see example:
  55. Effects - plug in effects Alien Skin Eye candy 5: Impact - perspective shadow choose Drop shadow LOW
  56. Layers - new raster layer
  57. Activate the Brush tool and select my brush:


    -->>> If you work with PSP X or with a previous version of it,  then proceed as follows (PSP X and less)
    Download this pspfile
    Your pspfile -->> edit - copy – paste as a  new layer (both and use the mover tool)
    You may delete the new layer you just made and now you can continue wiht item 59




    Stamp the brush as follows, using your dark foreground colour:
  58. Repeat: stamp the same brush but change the size  to 320 and use your light background colour:
  59. Layers - new raster layer
  60. Selections – load/save selection – load selection from disk and choose my selection
    (BeautifulBurnout_sel_001_060408_tdstudio.PspSelection):




  61. Flood fill this selection with the light background colour
  62. Selections – deselect all
  63. Effects – Image effects – seamless tiling with settings shown below:
  64. Activate the layer palette, opacity = 50 and blend mode = Soft light
  65. Layers - merge – merge all layers
  66. Selection tool : Free hand selection (point to point - add – feather = 50) with settings shown below :
  67. Select these parts, print screen contains all selections:
  68. Effects - plug in effect OptikverveLabs- Virtual Photographer and choose (see below)
  69. Selections – deselect all
  70. Effects - plug in effects - Richard rosenman - solid border change Horz/vertical to 1
  71. We will now make the background, using the minimized copy from item 27
  72. Layers - merge - merge all layers
  73. Effects – Image effects – seamless tiling
  74. Save both tags as a  JPG
